Kevin K. Gagnon

Kevin

Bass guitar, bass… guitar...

Kevin started his musical journey in 1978, playing at every bar, club and concert venue throughout the Windsor/Essex area in Ontario, Canada, and recording in just about every local recording studio. A highly sought-after bassist, eventually, he picked up guitar along the way to aid in his songwriting, and he has been playing guitar extensively right alongside bass ever since.

Kevin toured with his band “Destiny” in the early 80’s, and he has played with Joe Konas (The Godz), who has performed with numerous artists from Hendrix to Uriah Heep; Stu Heydon (Bobo Jenkins, Wild Child Butler); the late blues great Michael Bruce; and so many others. He’s a recipient of The Windsor/Essex County Music Appreciation Award and a Hall of Fame Inductee. Kevin has offered his talents for countless local charity events over the years and still lends out his talents for the occasional live gig or studio session.

Kevin’s 2019 solo debut “it is what it is,” is a remastered collection of mostly past instrumental works released as a legacy to his family, and to all the artists he has played and performed with over the years, some of whom are featured on the CD. The album is available everywhere you purchase or stream music online.

Still a blast from his past...

Guitarist/vocalist Jeffrey David, JD, is well known for fronting the Canadian power-metal group Wicked Angel throughout the eighties. Wicked Angel toured and recorded extensively for over a decade, while JD was also involved in various blues oriented side-projects. However, it wasn't until 2008 that he devoted more time time to his hard blues-rock trio Jeffrey David’s BLUES CONNECTION, including the role as sole writer for the group.

JD likes heavy music, and so his blues style is no different. Influences from other heavy blues-roots rock artists, such as Tony Iommi, Gary Moore, Jimmy Page, and Leslie West are apparent, as well as guys like Mick Box, Alvin Lee, Paul Kossof, Ritchie Blackmore, the Kings, B.B. & Albert, and others, like Willie Dixon, Howlin’ Wolf, Muddy Waters, Jimi Hendrix, Robin Trower, Joe Bonamassa, Walter Trout, Warren Haynes, and Kenny Wayne Shepherd. And let's not forget Leigh Stephens (Blue Cheer).

JD is often heard playing a wah, as well as some slide and acoustic. He plays Gibson guitars and uses Marshall amps exclusively. His solo debut Loud & Proud was released in 2018 and JDBC currently has 2 commercial releases available entitled Heavy Effin’ Blues, and Blues My Way. All JD’s CDs are available everywhere you purchase or stream music online.

Kevin & JD

It goes without saying, their paths were meant to cross. With contradistinguishing sounds and styles, Kevin and JD share all the solos on their album, and the result is pure magic.

Kevin brings a wealth of musical knowledge to the group. He’s melodic, and can always find just the right hook. JD is more like a race horse out of the gate. His hard rock and metal past is evident in his style, but his roots are blues-based all the way.

Take this melodic aggression, stir in some one-four-five, drop in some bottom and a pinch lyrical sizzle and next thing you know, you have some delicious blues soup. Think of it as an ol' family recipe that can’t be duplicated by anyone else. And with a backup band full of talent in their own right, there’s no stopping this machine.

Together Kevin & JD have released 5 albums and are working on a new CD. In fact, they are always working on new material. And their albums are receiving great reviews and radio airplay world-wide.

Budding from early recording sessions and free instrumental releases, Kevin & JD made their official debut with a COVID 19 related music video called “Lockdown,” released just a week into the pandemic. We would say the rest is history, but that’s not entirely accurate… they are still writing it!

You can find all the Kevin & JD releases wherever you buy or stream your music online.
